Principal Agent

Alex Kane represents narrative nonfiction, big-idea books, memoir, and literary and select genre fiction — with a particular focus on work that has a strong point of view and commercial ambition. He is drawn to writers who bring expertise and voice to subjects that matter, and to books that can hold their own in the culture.

His clients include baseball legend Dusty Baker, New Yorker contributor Kimon de Greef, psychologist Darby Saxbe, New York Times bestselling journalist Keith Law, anti-tech activist and novelist August Lamm, Baffler editor-in-chief Matthew Shen Goodman, New York magazine journalist Harrison Hill, and Ghanaian-American novelist kai alonté.

Alex joined Calligraph in 2026 after nine years at WME, where he worked cross-departmentally across the agency's New York and Los Angeles offices in comedy, music, film, and digital. His clients there included Oscar-winner and New York Times bestselling author Jimmy Chin, Tony Award-winning comedian Alex Edelman, chess grandmaster and streamer Hikaru Nakamura, and Freakonomics M.D. host Dr. Bapu Jena.

He has a BA in Math and Philosophy and a minor in Chinese from Dartmouth College. He lives in Brooklyn with his wife and one-year-old son.
